Assemblage Sculpture

The main thing that led me to making this was that I drink a lot of seltzer I had a lot of cans lying around my room and I wanted to do something useful with them. I also loved the concept of making something that is functional and that I can use/wear if I ever wanted to.

For the model of this (which I don't have a picture of) is made out of cardboard and hot glue. I then cut the cans apart and glued them to the outside of my model using hot glue as well. Then I used the bottoms of the cans for the top of the hat.

A process that I went through making this is at first I wanted to make the Eiffel tower out of cans but I realized that would be too big and it wouldn't have much use to it, so I decided to make the hat. Another process was that I wanted to not glue the cans straight onto the model. I wanted the model and the final product to be seperate but I noticed that it would take a lot more work and time that I didn't have to trace out and measure each of the parts so they were the same as the model.
