Advanced Art & Design

Final Reflection

My work shows that I have improved because you can see the complexity of the details and meaning behind each piece. A weakness I had was that I struggled to find how my work could connect to me personally and on a deeper level. Taking AP 2D design really helped me with this problem because it made me think harder about moments in my life and how to connect them with my materials, emotions, processes, skills, etc. A strength that my work illustrates is the attention to more minor details and small things that make a big difference. For example, in the Bob Ross paintings, I really paid attention to layering and the backgrounds and how that really adds dimension to the piece.

I think one of the most challenging things was trying to incorporate new materials that I haven't used before into my SI's. This was a struggle for me because I really like to stick with what I know and keep developing the skills, that I use the most, further. But I learned how to use a lot o different techniques with different mediums and materials that I think added more complexity to my pieces. I also think these new things gave my works a different look so they all don't look the same.

Some of the things I am most proud of are the pieces I made with pictures of my family such as the one of my grandfather, my sister, and my Christmas family one. These were my favorite because I loved being able to show them to my family and getting their reactions. They always were so happy that I thought of them and I honestly just like being able to draw my family and people that mean a lot to me and my life.

Some artistic goals I have over the summer is to still keep up with projects of my own so I don't lose any skill or motivation. I also wanna get better at the skills I already know and maybe learn some more on the way.
