This semester was probably the most art I have ever churned out in a year, especially a school year where I had to work around junior year academics, multiple varsity teams, and jobs. However, I think I was able to produce the best art I have ever made this year, from my sustained investigation to my duck stamp. I was extremely proud of my wide array of materials this year, many of which I learned how to use in class, such as oil sticks and gouache. I enjoyed some of our earlier projects this year that were less meaningful such as the ink splotch one and the donate life. My duck stamp was much better than it was last year, and my patience and understanding of materials have definitely improved. Finally, our sustained investigation, where we spent the majority of our time, showed my improvement quite literally and my experimenting with materials.
I have struggled this year with coming up with more ideas on how to create deeper more meaningful art. My sustained investigation is about buildings or rather locations that are meaningful to me from my childhood. However, pushing to make buildings meaningful is rather hard. A goal I have for the second semester if to continue to create meaningful art, that has deeper conections to me, personally. I also want to continue expiramenting with paints as that is a space I find myself in quite often.
