First contour
Shoe drawing
Final contour
For the first modified contour we had to sketch our hands holding a rubber band. We were given a 9x12 piece of paper and sketched it with pencils. Than we went back over our lines to purify them.
I worked hard to create balance in this piece because if my hand wasn't balanced it would offset the whole piece and make it look weird. Lines were a big part of this piece because we had to have different line weights. As well as we were not allowed to shade so I ended up layering lines to add depth.
This piece is a direct representation of me or at least a part of me because it is a drawing of my hands. A challenge I had in this was not shading as that is a technique I am used to. It was much harder to show depth without shading.
For our second modified contour drawing we took a close up drawing of our shoe and we had to resketch that on a 9x12 piece of paper. My close up drawing had two lines in it and these two lines are the black line dividing the blue and red and the power line. Than I sketched the gondola and mountains in with a black sharpie. Finally I used water color to pain in the colors I wanted.
Balance in this piece I feel like was achieved with the large amounts of color as well as the large white space with the clouds. The two original lines were defining aspects and dictated what I could or could not do in this artwork, but other than that the water colors add a flow to the piece as there is not that many lines.
This piece represents me in a way because I am a big skier and that is probably my favourite sport. A challenge I had was deciding what to do for this piece. I originally wanted to draw beech but I realized that was too intricate and time consuming. I am most proud of how the ski turned out because it surprised me how nice the water colors blended.
