Foundations Reflection

I learned more this year in Foundations of Art than I ever have in any art class before, usually in an art class we only do two to three projects and they're super boring. This year we actually did a wide range of projects that were very interesting to do. I didn't like all of them but the projects pushed my abilities in many categories such. There wasn't anything that was super-duper hard to do, understand or complete and everything that I found hard, I was able to overcome. Mr. A gave me help if I ever needed it, and he was always super helpful, and actually showed me how to do something rather than just telling me how to do it.

An example of this was acrylic painting which I have never done before. I was away the first day we had using acrylic paint in class, and so I started off behind, and never having used them before I found them very hard to understand. Mr. A helped me making the color grid and eventually I learned how to use them pretty well and I think I painted a pretty cool "84 Colors" project.

My top three favorite projects this year were, the package deconstruction, the artist inspired self portrait background and the dada collage. I also really like learning how to use acrylic paints. The package deconstruction was cool because it was pretty easy to do and it was super interesting to reuse a barilla pasta box. I like the artist inspired background because I enjoyed learning about Salvador Dali, as he is someone who has always intrigued me I just didn't know enough about him. I really enjoyed doing the dad collage and I didn't realize how interesting collages could be.

My least favorite things we did this year was the negative space drawings and the nature mandala. I really didn't like doing the negative space drawings because they seemed like a waste of time to me and I really don't like how mine turned out. I didn't like the nature mandala because it was really boring and didn't really take any skill to create a nature mandala. I also found it super frustrating because it was windy and raining when I completed my nature mandala and nothing stayed in the same spot for too long.
