The main idea of this assignment was to assemble some type of image that related to ourselves personally. I took the assignment very literally and did something similar to what we composed in class which was a top view of objects we had in our backpacks. I changed this to objects that related to myself but kept it simple and didn't add too many things in. I photographed this at 10:04 pm after I had gotten out of work and figured out what I wanted to do. I ideally wanted to use natural lighting but that was not the way it ended up working out. To assemble this piece I took a really big piece of white "paper" it is sort of like a piece of thin cardboard painted white (I use this to photograph clothing that I sell). It makes a good backdrop but where I set it up is hard to get natural lighting even in the daytime. I placed this "paper" on my desk in my room to get a flat surface. I definitely could have used the floor I just didn't think of it at the time. Because of the time of day, I considered using my ring light to mimic natural lighting but decided against it because I felt the image came out bright enough on its own. I chose these objects because they are important to me. The keys help me start my car which transports me wherever I need to go (school, work, etc.). The small mug was created by me and has sentimental value. Inside it is a tide stick which is the only thing I found to get stains out of things, a pair of pliers because they were just already in there, and a stitch ripper which I sometimes use to disassemble clothing to make it into new things. This ties into the notebook which has my ideas for starting an eco-conscious business from recycled materials such as clothing and the logo is shown on one of the pages. The chapstick is there because I love chapstick. I am not a huge fan of that flavor it just happened to look best in the composition. The apron is from my work which I am at a lot of the week. The last item is the hedgehog which is actually a heating pad. It was a birthday gift. They tried to wash the lavender scent off of it because I don't like lavender and ended up causing the stuffing inside to sprout. Which is what is planted in the teapot pot planter. I thought it was funny to include.
