Pure Contour

For the pure contour art section, we had to draw 3 views of one of our shoes and a detailed picture of our hand with a rubber band somewhere in the mix. We drew a front view, side view, and top view of our shoe focussing on details and the positive space. For our hand drawing we also focussed on positive space and the specific details such as the lines in our hands and the twist of the rubber band. These projects relate to my life because they can be simple sometimes but and also very complicated and complex. They have to have time put into them to make them the best they can be.

For the hand picture, we used a 10x12 piece of paper that we had to draw our hand on using H, and HB graphite pencils. For my three views of a shoe, I used an 18x12 piece of paper that I accidentally folded into 3 sections which is something you should never do to your artwork. I also used a number 2 pencil to create these drawings.

For the hand drawing, I started by focussing on the negative spaces to get the proportions correct and then filled in the positive space to the best of my ability. I had to really focus the on how to make my line look like it twists for the rubber band. In the future, I could focus on line depth and making sure that I made the lines lighter and darker as needed. For my three views, I had to look at my shoe from different angles and do my best to make the drawings look realistic and detailed. This was difficult for me because I did not do the greatest with proportion. I did my best to again focus on the negative space to get the outline of the shoe and then focus on the positive space to make my shoes as proportional as I could. I had to erase many lines and experiment with different ideas to try and get my shoes looking as realistic as possible. In the future, I could try to focus on adding a little more detail and maybe looking closer at the shoe to make sure that I have all of the details that I can see.
