COVID-19 visual response

For this project I decided to do a sculpture using covid themed items. I did a robot because I had the materials available and it seemed like it would be kind of cool. You can see that I tried to make it look like hand sanitizer was dripping down onto the covid germs. I also incorporated a mask, gloves, and covid germs to make it covid themed. This project relates to my life because it took me a long time to make like a lot of things in my life and it took a lot of different materials just like my life incorporates many different features in my day.

To created this project I used cardboard, hot glue, green spray paint, a pencil, a pen, colored pencils, a cardboard box, newspaper, gum wrappers, empty hand sanitizer, gloves, a mask, a plastic bag, a toilet paper roll, and a clear softball case.

To make this project I first started by taking an empty softball display case (bones) and stuffing it with plastic bags to make it more covid themed. Then I hot glued layers of newspaper (muscles) all around the faces of the case leaving one blank. Then I glued gum wrappers (skin) over all of the newspaper on the case. I then stuffed an empty box with newspapers (bones and muscles) and covered that box with gum wrappers also. I traced my hand twice on a piece of cardboard and stuffed the cut-outs into gloves. I then glued it to the sides of the (body). I cut out a shape to put the robot on top of and glued the body to it after spray painting it. I also cut out little covid germs and glued them to the spray-painted cardboard. I glued an empty hand sanitizer bottle with spray paint inside of it to one of the gloves and put a bunch of hot glue underneath it. I then got a string of hot glue coming down from the bottle to clump of glue to give the illusion of pouring hand sanitizer. I also glued gum wrappers to a toilet paper roll and used it as a neck for the robot. I glued a mask over the softball case for a finishing touch and then my project was complete. In the future if I were to do this project again I would try to make the "hand sanitizer" coming out of the bottle thicker so that it wouldn't have the potential to break because of how thin it is.
