Photography 2

Do you feel like your experience in Photography II was successful?  Explain.

Yes I feel that my experience in Photo 2 was successful. I feel that I got more familiar with Photoshop and was able to get a refresher on the different compositions of photos. We also got a lot of time to think about and plan some of our images such as in the time photos and sustained investigation. This allowed us to work on our critical thinking and planning which was beneficial both for this class and others. I had some technical difficulties when it came to those assignments however since the person in my pictures for the time project is no longer a constant in my life. I ended up redoing the assignment towards the end of the semester but I adapted to the change and think that it will turn out just fine.

What was the hardest thing for you in taking this course?  How did you overcome this difficulty to be successful?

The hardest thing for me about taking this course would have to be the Photoshop assignments. I always had a hard time with this and it made it more difficult for me trying to remember old and new content as well as blend them if I needed to. That was also my hardest unit in photo 1 as well. I did my best to look at the tutorials and ask for help when needed. I still ended up struggling a lot but was able to get through it.  I kept trying new things as well and played around with the images so I was submitting the best version of my images I could.

What was your favorite project this year?   Why?

My favorite project of the year was the Rainbow project only because I loved the final result. I still struggled a lot with Photoshop but once I got it figured out for one of the houses in the image I figured it out for the rest of them. I like that I titled the piece "Green House" because there was no green house. I simply forgot and did not add the correct number of houses to the "lot". I also like how unique the final piece came out to be because it was out of the ordinary and ended up coming out way better than all of my other ideas combined.

What was your least favorite?  Why?

My least favorite assignment would have to be the Photoshop portrait under the Identity unit. It was just awkward. I don't like to take pictures of myself nor do I have any that are actually good. It was just weird to have to create and then present with it being an awkward selfie I took. If I were to do this assignment again I would maybe have someone take a candid photo so it is less forced and more natural.

How has your understanding of photography (composition and technique) and your appreciation of photography (the work of other photographers) been impacted by this class?  Be specific.

My understanding and appreciation of photography has been impacted by this class because I learned how to create pictures with better compositional components. I also learned better time management and how to better plan out my images when it comes to something in a sequence or events.
