Surrealism (with collage and painting)

For this project I decided to do dada art. I realized I didn't have any magazines & my mother and I had been working cleaning up the yard and burning everything so there wasn't much in my yard to work with (then it snowed). We have to be problem solvers so I did my best to create a piece that is a collage in a way because of the 4 combined pieces that create a surreal image. This project relates to my life because I worked really hard on it and did my best to problem solve when things got tough rather than giving up. I try my best in life to give things my all and to not give up too easily.

To create this project I used a 9x11 inch piece of computer paper for my rough draft, a 9x12 inch piece of a thicker paper for the final copy. I also used transfer paper, markers, acrylic paints, watercolor paints, water, a sharpie, a pencil, and a fine point marker.

To start, I drew a dada art piece with my grandmother that turned out as a form of surrealism. I then took transfer paper, put it behind the copy on top of the paper I used for the original. I then traced the copy so that the image was the same pressure on the final copy (I drew darker than her so this made both the original and copy look more professional). I then traced some of the image in sharpie and other parts with a fine point marker. After that I colored everything in with a sharpie to add the first layer (art should be layered). I did the next coat with acrylic paints and layered the paint if necessary. I then took some blue watercolor paint and lightly brushed it over the top of the entire painting starting from the bottom and going up. It was supposed to create a blue background but as I did this step some of the paint that I was going over came off and created sort of an ombré affect. I decided to leave the image as it was to add texture to it so that it looked almost blended like one painting. After that I let it dry and it was finished. As you can tell my project has done many things to evolve into the final product. If I were to do this piece again, I would try harder to maybe find things outside hopefully if I did it again there would be more resources that would better meet the project requirements.
