Zoomed Shoe

For my zoomed shoe pieces I tried my best to focus on details and adding patterns. I chose to make the specific shoe that I did because they were the shoes I happened to be wearing at the time of the assignment. For my 3 views of a shoe, I especially tried to focus on the details of my shoe to make my drawing look more complex. For my abstract shoe drawing, I used many different materials and techniques to complete my piece. I tried to overlap and mix materials which you can see when you look at the finished product. These projects relate to my life because I had to experiment and try new things to reach my final products similar to what I have to do in my own life. Sometimes you need to try new things and experiment with the process to get a better end result.

For the zoomed shoe, I used a few different materials. For example, I used 3 10x5 in sections of a piece of paper to make 3 separate drawings. I used a number 2 pencil to sketch one of my 3 views of a shoe with a viewfinder and draw the final lines for my 3 shoe drawings. For my abstract zoomed shoe I had to use way more materials because I added color to make it more abstract. I used a piece of bristol board paper to create my piece and continued to add materials from there. I used a number 2 pencil and an HB pencil to sketch out my drawing then a sharpie to go over my lines with. I then used watercolor paints, Crayola markers, water, and cling wrap to color and add designs to my art.

I started the zoomed show drawing by using the viewfinder to pick a piece of my 3 views of a shoe drawing that I thought was the most detailed. I then enlarged that small section to make it bigger and then made 2 more drawings of that same section each one bigger than the last. For my abstract show however the process was a lot more complex and it evolved a lot more. I had to pick one of the 3 zoomed shoe drawings and extend it to make it more abstract. After I had drawn and gone over it with sharpie I started to color in the lines with some markers adding more and more layers to minimize the white space. I then decided that it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be so I took some watercolor paints and made a base coat to eliminate all the white space. I then took some markers, dipped them in water, and started to draw over some cling wrap. This created almost like colored raindrops on the cling wrap which I then flipped over onto my piece and continued to do this creating a splotchy watercolor-like pattern. If I were to do these projects again, I would have tried to make my zoomed shoe drawings more detailed and I would have tried to make my abstract shoe drawing blend together better and look a little more presentable.
