Gaia

Gaia birthing centre is a new alternative birthing centre located in Melbourne, aiming to provide a unique and individual experience for both the mother and child.

PRESENTATION 1

Environmental design - Birthing centre

Amongst the rectangular and ordinary buildings, Gaia’s design should be extraordinary, something visually distinctive and a stark juxtaposition to all other surrounding buildings. 10-12 birthing suites are to be included, as well as multiple activity rooms for each of the services offered. Large spaces that create a breathable feel and allow for users to come together within the building is also required. The building should also have an organic element and reference to nature.

PRESENTATION 2

Communication design - Brand identity and way-finding signage

A unique and distinctive identity was required for Gaia, one that reflected their individual feel. A connection to mother and child was required in this communication design. Way-finding signage was also required, allowing users of the space to easily navigate the building.
