Ephemeral, pencil and watercolour on paper
My first artwork captures and presents the idea of physical sensations, demonstrating the connection between the mind and its surrounding environment. I chose to display the progressive growth of my youth, as it highlights the stage in life when our senses are the most intense. At this vulnerable age, we learn and gain an understanding of our surroundings by interacting and exploring different textures and surfaces through touch. The components of the drawings employing colour are representative of the objects and/or environmental surroundings in which the figure is physically connecting with, which contrast to the grey-scaled versions of me.
Rhythm, greylead pencil on paper
This artwork explores the concept of the human connection with sound. With an auditory stimulus evoking an emotion expression of myself. The symbolism of the sound waves is present in the continuous movement between the three figures. I used the materials charcoal and graphite to achieve this aesthetic and complete this work.
