Glimpses, watercolour and fineliner drawing on paper
Glimpses
In my second final I aimed to present glimpses of my life, particularly the mundane scenes we are restricted to throughout lockdown. Glimpses are short-lived insights that can express the nature of a person or place. I intentionally captured images taken from random rooms inside my home, because it signifies the boring lifestyle being in lockdown creates, but simultaneously highlights the unsuspected beauty in such ordinary things.
Memories
My intention in this final was to portray individual moments of my past, which are now ingrained in my mind as memories. In my exploration proposal, I discussed that I wanted to capture specific points in time, especially from my childhood. The aim of this work is to convey the individuality of every moment in time. This displays that a still frame such as the ones above (based from photographs taken of me as a child) is entirely unique, because if it were taken even a split second later, it would be slightly different in some way. Thus, these frames capturing ‘memories’, intend to represent the small and specific details of the singular moment they were taken.
