'A teenage girl, isolated from society and the outside world discovers a secret about herself she never knew of, a series of unfortunate events unravel as she searches for answers'
For my final production, the genres and ideas of psychological thriller, mystery, and horror is what I want to explore in my production. The concepts of isolation and a dystopian society/world is something that intrigues me, wanting to incorporate these ideas into my film to combine the genres to create a different type of psychological thriller film, something that psychologically thrills the audience and has the conventions such as mental illness, themes of crime, dissolving sense of reality embedded in my film.
Whilst engaging with my production, I want my audience to think about the past, the last year that the world has been in isolation. With dead silent streets after 9pm, and congested in your home, this concept inspired me to use this in my production. Psychological thriller is something that can be captured to some audiences, as they require the audience to engage with the film to try and establish what is happening. The audience not knowing all the ‘information’ is one way in which they can engage with the story and the characters. Being able to have the audience understand this concept is something that I will have to explore before production, how through the use of camera, codes and conventions, as well as the structure of the story line, this will be possible for them to grasp.
