Out of Uniform
The concept of ‘a uniform’ is to eliminate individuality and adornment is the way which people choose to express themselves. ‘Out of uniform’ is a lighthearted motif to showcase the individuality of people. I have focused on my authentic capture of their ‘uniform infringements’ as they showed up in the classroom. The presentation is not pristine, as this reflects the reality of everyday life in the classroom, contrary to the image a school yearbook tries to portray. A signature page allowing for those walking around the art show to sign and express themselves. Interacting with the artwork is now left empty as COVID-19 has rendered this not to be possible and demonstrates how the virus may restrict our identity/expression
Vase
‘Vase’ is the story of my mum and her vase she purchased during one of the hardest times in her 20s. The vase gave her a sense of joy, much needed colour and has followed her on many journeys of life. In every house or apartment since, beginning a family and even strapped in next to her on flights. These photos beautifully articulate what objects mean to people and the sentimental value of a house decoration, something used to adorn a space of comfort.
