Within my film I intend to focus on the world of a modern teenager and the everyday pressures and issues that they struggle with, whether overtly or covertly. I aim for my film to focus more on the inner dialogue rather than graphic visuals that the media has often used previously in order to present mental health amongst teenagers. Instead of romanticising and exaggerating themes that the film industry has already explored, like suicide and drugs, I want to show a less observed side to teenage mental health, specifically touching on mood disorders like anxiety and depression. This will be shown through my characters and how this impacts their behaviours within their everyday life and with other characters; the dialogue shared between the main character and the character used to portray this character’s inner dialogue. I will implement the use of comedy, as it will demonstrate just how simple it is to appear perfectly fine on the outside, whilst also trying to convey the darker ideas and attitudes that the inner dialogue often creates.
