BEYOND REALITY

My artwork is a seven series greylead drawing. The drawings depict a mythical creature called the banshee, also representing my sub-theme of folklore and folktales. I wanted to capture the pain and anguish that banshees are described to experience throughout different folktales and within the media today. I therefore illustrated the struggle and discomfort of a banshee through her facial expressions focusing solely on the face, not including any other body parts in any of the drawings except for one. The central figure covering her ears portrays the consonant voices they are said to have heard. These everlasting sounds are illustrated through the screaming surrounding figures, highlighting the figures entrapment.
