We've learned a lot of the tools in Apple Pages and other softwares to design and create documents. When we apply design concepts and aesthetics to create a document or publication, we call this Graphic Design. Concepts of Graphic Design are embedded in a lot of courses where you create things, even if unintentionally.
If it is an interest area for you, you could focus specifically on it with the Graphic Design pathway at Guthrie. If you're interested in that pathway, you'd take Principles of Arts, Audio/Video Tech, & Communications class next year; we usually just call it Principles of Arts for short. The Principles of Arts course is the pre-req for 3D, Digital Design/Digital Art, Video, Photography, and Graphic Design pathways.
We've got a couple more pages to design for Phred, and then we'll move toward physically making things.
We'll work a bit with Apple Keynote today. Its setup and tools are very similar to Pages and Sheets; so you should be pretty comfortable with the overall interface. Watch the video here on how to setup your document for today.
Below are the video that will introduce you to the C.R.A.P. principles of Graphic Design. This is a decently known perspective on Graphic Design, but it isn't the only one.
This is basically a gentle introduction into how to think about designing documents. If this is an interest area for you, it goes much much deeper. This is surface level, but learning how to use these concepts can still help you design some nice looking documents.
In this first video, he'll go over where this originates from and discuss the first concept; contrast.

Here, he'll go over the second concept; repetition.
