Everything looks pretty bland still...
you know what would help?
COLOR!
Let's see how to add color.
Again, we're doing this the old-fashioned way.
We'll use new fangled methods later.
Before we continue...
I've shown you how to add color... but do you understand how it works?
Do you really?
Let's get a bit deeper into this.
You can try to find the little color quiz game he's playing if you want...
PREP FOR NEXT CLASS: Find a simple pixel art sprite
Next class, we'll try to create a simple piece of pixel art. Use your remaining time to find a small and simple 8-bit style pixel sprite.
Look for something simple with only a couple colors and that's very, very low res. Even this Mario might take a while; he's 16 x 16 pixels... so, 256 pixels! The old man in the Cave is about the same number, although a bit less complex.
Something that's 10x10 or lower would probably be better.
Instead, consider something like this Mario here, or this old man from the cave in Zelda; both 8x8 pixels. So, a total of 64 pixels instead of 256.
These are by pixel artist MariiBoops.
I found them by googling "8x8 pixel art".
A screenshot of your updated animal page, now with colors!
Be ready with your low-res pixel art for tomorrow.
Seriously, I don't recommend larger 10x10.
