I hope you had a wonderful holiday.
Welcome to the 2nd semester.
As you continue progressing through high school, consider continuing your education in Computer Science regardless of what industry you are interested in. Just about every industry interacts with computing, and so regardless of your ultimate goal, you can benefit from being well-versed in computing and programming.
The intended next course is CS2 in 10th grade. In 11th and 12th grade, you can take Diploma-level Computer Science or you can also take the Cybersecurity courses at the Guthrie Center.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What's your plan for the future?
We ask these questions casually, as if its deciding what's for lunch or what to wear tomorrow. It's not an easy question, and your experiences are limited based mostly on family and school. How are you suppose to know so early? Most people can't really, and that's ok.
Earlier in the year, you took a short survey. I informed you that we'd revisit it a few times throughout the year.
Completion of the survey is for a grade, but not specifically what you answer.
Think about the questions and answer them based on what you believe to be true.
Take it here:

Discuss the following in a document:
1.a) In regards to school in general, how did your fall semester go? Explain.
b) Specifically related to this course, how do you feel about your choices and their results for last semester? Explain.
2) Regarding academic goals: Academic goals include IB, HS endorsements, scholarships, college/university acceptances, university or work place readiness, graduating of course, and many other possible academic goals you may have for yourself.
a) What endorsement/s do you plan to earn in high school?
b) Do you intend to take the IB DP or IB CP in 11th/12th grade?
c) What other academic goals do you have for yourself? Explain.
3) Life in general: There are, of course, things you should reflect on regarding pretty much everything you do, but we’d be here all day or longer if I asked about everything. Consider where else you spend your time throughout your day, and reflect on how beneficial it is or isn’t for you, your goals, and your future. Consider how you can change or improve the things you aren’t satisfied with.
Play light-bot; the original, the sequel, and/or the new version.

^ District blocks it in Chrome; use Safari or Firefox
If you get stuck, try one of the other two versions.
How far can you get?
In your document for today:
Provide a screenshot showing how far you were able to get in whichever version or versions you decided to play.
Discuss:
What are your thoughts on Light-bot? Did you enjoy it? Was it challenging at times?
How does light-bot relate to programming?
