Everything is affected by computing and computer science today. However, the involvement in Computer Science is still a bit limited. Computer Scientists are more predominantly caucasian or asian, and typically male. It doesn't have to be this way. In the video below, Maria Klawe, the President of Harvey Mudd College, talks about part of this disparity.
While the discussion is focused around girls going into STEM, some of the issues and topics also affect and shape opinion for minorities and others that may benefit from studying STEM.

What if you don't know what you want to do?
If you aren't really sure what direction you want to go in, both computer science and cybersecurity courses as well as Digital Media are still great options. Computers and technology have disrupted just about every industry. Through these courses, you'll get experience with a wide variety of software tools, as well as learn a lot about computing in general. Regardless of where you end up, both of these will likely be beneficial. Art, agriculture, medicine, communication, game design, and so on, and so on, and so on.
Some, like cyber security and data science are heavily dependent on computing and computer science, others like fashion and music may be lesser so- but computing technology interacts with all of them, and knowledge and familiarity with software from Digital Media courses is also beneficial. Computer Science specifically is a great course for the job market, but also for academics. It's a pathway that is beneficial for both university and industry, without limiting yourself. Colleges and universities consider Computer Science to be a high-level and rigorous academic course, and the number of job opportunities related to computing is continually expanding. Everything is affected by computing, software, and computer science today.
Computer science is perhaps the most important area of study in our modern world.
Trying to figure out your goal, your passion, what to do, how to get there, can be paralyzing. It isn't so important to have everything figured out. What's more important is choosing a direction, and going. No matter what direction you go, you'll build skills, make connections, and learn things. If you need to make course corrections in the future, you can, but at least you're moving and growing, learning and networking with others.
A lot of the skills and abilities and knowledge you gain from one area will often provide benefits in other areas too, so don't think of it as wrong or wasted time. It's just a different skill set and area of knowledge that you've grown in, that you'll be able to borrow from in your future, whever it may go.
