Before pushing a lot into AI, let's make sure you understand crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is already being used today, and will likely be used in the future. The future of science, including with AI, may use crowdsourcing.

It depends.
Which will we use in the future? I reckon both.
AI is starting to be added to everything, so will we just AI all the things?

In reality, we probably need some constraints on AI.
There are some concerns to AI, not just on energy consumption, but also perhaps on newer AI's in the future that may seem to act more with their own volition then what we currently know.
