The True Foundation

When the Foundation formed, it was made up of Masters (nobles that would create the Foundations image) and Slaves (assassins that worked in the shadows to destroy any rising threats to the Foundation). For a time, the Master and Slaves worked together effectively.

However, as the Foundation grew in reputation, the Slaves were needed less and less. That’s when one particularly clever Master approached the Slaves, with the intention of overthrowing the Foundation. They agreed; True Foundation was created.

They used Torin the Ripper, a cursed subject of a hag from the Graven Bogs, to exterminate the Masters for them. The True Foundation then found the hag that had cursed Torin and forced her to kill Torin, and give the True Foundation unimaginable magical power. The True Foundation then scattered itself across the land, with the intent of manipulating nations and society into their own destruction.

The Slaves usually never meet, and use their own discretion when it comes to the means they use to accomplish the True Foundation’s goal of conquest. They wear masks of birds or other woodland animals, earning the name “Hawks” by their main rivals, the Jointed Styx.
