Opus Magnus is from Zarkhin, and was a priest of Corrus, Egg of the World as part of the Eighth sect of Qavnar. He wore the Robe Of Eyes, an artifact from his country, until he burned it at Greth Summit right before faking his death. He was on a mission for many months to find the Eternal Tomes within the Wilderness, as he believed that they were the key to reforming his country.
Along this journey he stopped in the Third Howl Garrison and joined the 29th Ranging Squad to a mission in the Heibach Mire, where he believed the Tomes might have been. He found no Eternal Tomes, but did discover the identity of the Wilderman and battled him along with the other members of the 29th Squad. Afterwards, he was one of the three original members of the Westward Fellowship formed by Tellig Tulach, along with Jinx and Marvin Dulcimer, who were tasked with learning how Blackyon Roy defeated the Wilderman in the past and training with the Knights of Zorn.
Upon finding the Tomes in the Last Archives in the Greth Mountains at last, he went through a crisis of faith as he learned that his religion was a front for Domecus, a deity whose followers are behind nearly every major catastrophe and political upheaval in the history of the realm. Opus Magnus has been missing since he faked his death to the Westbound Fellowship.
He spent numerous weeks in the forests of the Wilderness where he was gored by a wild boar and nearly died. He recovered in an uncharted, remote village called Norinsville, and learned of his innate power as a Solar Warrior. He trained and learned about the low god of Logos, Xor, and tapped into some of his potential. He cut all previous ties to Domecus and burned off his tattoos. The wound he received from the boar now looks like a sun-shaped scar across his chest, still red from the cauterization.
On his travels he came across Beckinsale, a town with a church of Atarius within it. He confronted the priests, and using his Medallion of Thoughts discovered that the Wilderman is their enemy, and is within Nuwel. After losing the fight and being thrown in prison, he used some of his Solar Energy to melt the wall of the cell and escape. His new plan was to find Nuwel and see if the Wilderman can provide assistance in the liberation of Zarkhin.
Opus is now working alongside Lucius Falco and Jinx to gain a promotion to the rank of Sun Walker. In the Graven Bogs, he encountered Asili and made a pact with them to destroy the low god Phi in order to replenish Ronvik's Veil of Shadows and (for Opus specifically) gain some of Asili's power so he is more powerful and capable of achieving his goal: liberating Zarkhin from the Jointed Styx. After the encounter, he was mindlessly driven to claim the Sigma Stone, currently in Lucius's possession, and thinks he has obtained it after Jinx modified his memory.
Opus traveled with Jinx and Lucius to a certain Crypt within another dimension where a fragment of Zorn lived in solitude: Lorn. However, as it was revealed to be a plot by Relkoin Roy to gain access to Lorn's domain in order to kill him, the party saved Lorn and teleported away, sealing Roy in there at least temporarily.
Opus was instrumental in defeating Phi and completing their mission to become Sunwalkers, although it was Jinx with the Onyx Dagger who delivered the final blow in secret. Around this time he also witnessed Jinx attempt and fail to bring back his brother Jonathan using a True Resurrection crystal, and gained some sympathy for him.
Opus Magnus, now having reached the rank of Sunwalker, joined Ronvik on his quest to summon Rika, a deity called the Mother of the World whose power could enable him to defeat his nemesis Nath, Father of Time. Opus travelled with Jinx and Lorn to Coldstone Keep and procured the Prismatic Eye from the ghost of Arium the Eternal. It was during this time when Opus finally gained respect for Jinx after learning of his personal quest and the circumstances from which his motivations originated. He also learned that they were very much the same, the two of them. They agree to work together to achieve their goals, regardless of the cost.
At Greth Summit, Opus was held at knifepoint by Devin as the God Realm was accessed by Ronvik, Jinx, Lorn and himself using the Onyx Pillars and the Prismatic Eye. However, after Lucius Rhonoculus revealed his plan to overthrow Ronvik and his status as the founder of the True Foundation, the revelation of how deep Lucius's lies went spurred Opus into action. Killing Devin and breaking free, he summoned the power of the sun to blast away Astrik Tsosentrio, saving Ronvik from being murdered, and then with Astrik's Onyx Dagger he killed Lucius (unintentionally in one hit, not aware of the power of Nath's unholy weapon).
After this, he convinced Marvin in part that Jinx can be trusted, and once again began the Gathering of the Four Divines, only to see Jinx's quest crumble at the word of Nath. Defeated, Opus and Ronvik shook on the resolution to achieve their goals without the help of deities, but by their own strengths.
