- Zarkhin lies to the northeast of the realm, directly east of the Crownlands. It is a nation comprised of followers of Corrus, Egg of the World: a religion with roots stretching back to the Old Empire. With the Empire’s fall, those who did not want to be part of the Foundation because of its persecution against the religion of Corrus formed the nation known today as Zarkhin.
- By orders of the current theocratic regime in Zarkhin, many priests, acolytes, monks and clerics have been sent out into the rest of the realm to spread the religion of Corrus to the common folk. The leaders believe that war and conquest is meaningless compared to the power in shared belief systems.
- One of the higher-up monks, Opus Magnus, is on a pilgrimage of his own. He opposes the theocracy of Zarkhin, and disagrees with the policies of proselytism and evangelism. He hopes to find the Eternal Tomes (remnants of the Old Empire) and learn about the founding of his religion, since he believes that the founders had a vastly different vision than the religious leaders profess today.
