After the battle at Fallholt, Steve Robasack disappears. The group takes a rest a gets to know one another better. In the morning they ride Saffron towards the entrance to Greth Summit that Virtue knows about. However, they encounter strong winds and blizzards that forces them to separate from Saffron and continue on foot. They stop and rest for the night, as the visibility is entirely gone. They wake up in the morning to a missing Rick. They continue their journey and eventually reach a fortress on the edge of the mountain. Opus decides to run up the wall, and after a squabble with the guards, is asked by a commander of the fortress, Morn, to meet him in three hours in his dojo. While this happens, Jinx reconnects with Verix, learning that Verix now holds all of 0’s power, but is unable to fully control it. He states that he was looking to acquire the Cornellius Winds from a so called “Bandit Lord within the fortress”, but was unable to.
Verix also warns Jinx that Rick (not describing him by name) is very dangerous and should be avoided. After, the group pays the toll (except Virtue who got in because she was a Knight of Zorn) and the group splits up to explore the fortress, known as Coldstone Keep. Marvin plays a song for some kids, Jinx sells his old armour to a man with sibling issues, Virtue learns more about the current occupants of Coldstone Keep, and Opus reunites with an exhausted Steve Robasack. Opus also finds a man belonging to the Dextrous Individuals known as Bartleby the Bastard. They exchange information, such as: The Lurisia-Orc war is going to end soon, the Vandran sisters aren’t friendly towards each other, and that to enter the Knights of Zorn the fellowship will have to clear three trials presented by “The Great Lord” who possesses a weaker version of the Cornellius Winds. He also remarks that he knows Elso and that the Individuals are looking for him.
After the lore-dump, the fellowship heads to the dojo a completes the Trial of Spirit set by Morn. It's a crazy battle against spirit monks. They head to the next trial set by Commander Lucia. The fellowship enter a gateway that leads them into the Trial of Camaraderie. They solve a puzzle, then they all must determine a set of realities from each other. These realities give them insights into world events such as the Old Empire Archives burning down, the Lurisia-Orc war ending as they speak and a war between Pluvia and Lurisia unfolding in the future. Jinx decides to keep what he saw to himself, and only reveals what he believes is necessary to finishing the trial. They move on to the last test, one where each party member makes the choice to either kill or spare Rick, or Astrik Tsosentrio as the trial tells them. They all make a choice that ends up making them complete the trial. They move to the last trial, the Trial of Strength.
They find the “Great Lord” asleep sitting on his throne. He is woken up by a halfling hiding behind the throne. A fight begins, with the Bandit Lord Darkhog wielding a large club and ballista. After a while into the fight, he realizes that this is a trial fight and unleashes the Cornellius Winds upon Virtue, who is able to stave them off. The fellowship defeat Darkhog, and after he wakes up, are granted passage to the Knights of Zorn, as the first group to have passed the trials. Rick also rejoins the party, taking some credit for the fight. Steve Robasack also wanders in and joins the party, as they descend into the mountains.
