The group reaches the town of Fallholt, a downtrodden and grimy place. Marvin Dulcimer follows a bunch of fledgling woodland creatures into the woods, certain that they are reincarnated Denmer Code followers who have warning for him.
Opus and Rick have a conversation in the inn about the Wilderman, not really caring who might be listening. The group meets Lily and Cayle, two children who have been following them around, and Cayle is surreptitiously investigating the group for his uncle.
They speak to the Auspex, Relkoin Hexseer, and Opus learns that his Eternal Tomes are related to Zorn in terms of location. They also get a greatly crucial prophecy concerning the fate of the world:
“When the true king reveals himself, a forbidden relationship shall bring forth an age of death and a world of darkness.”
Afterwards, the group encounters Cayle’s uncle, a man who claims to be a descendant of Dalton Grandmoth, a Denmer Code follower who reincarnated himself as a white panther, then a human again in order to get revenge on the man who originally killed him. The uncle, Luciano Grandmoth, was immediately suspicious to the group, who attacked him unprovoked. Virtue, a Knight of Zorn who was passing by Fallholt, tried to stop the group’s advances, but changed her mind after Luciano used Lily as a human sacrifice in an attempt to run away.
The group chases Luciano down into a crypt of Zorn, where they must make their way through a series of challenges.
They come across two portals, one through the elemental plane of fire and the other of water. They must pick the correct path through to the rest of the crypt. After a while of indecisiveness, they choose the plane of water and make it through. Next, they come across some potions, which they take without drinking any. There was then a room with a diversion puzzle to distract them while an air elemental attacked them. Next, there was a chamber with two mirrors leading into alternate realities, and by matching the real world to the imaginary world, they released an old man into their world, and he instantly aged several decades and died.
Finally, there was an idiom puzzle to get through the final door, of which the key phrase was “A Deal with the Devil in the Heat of the Moment”. Through the door they found a deceased Luciano Grandmoth… and a young Brass Dragon. They reached the sarcophagus of Pontium Robasack, the founder of the Knights of Zorn. However, since the real Pontium had been resurrected by the Wilderman during his first appearance, the person in the sarcophagus of which the dragon was protecting was really Steve Robasack, his relative. The group frees Steve and convinces the dragon that their entire mission was a lie. The dragon, which they named Saffron, then joins the group.
Outside, back in Fallholt, the group defends the town from invading gnolls, with the aid of their new dragon companion. They then sleep in the inn within the ruined town, and Marvin reappears in the night.
