Kurt the Silent is a member of the Jade Snakes, characterized by his lack of tongue. He is the only surviving member of the Snakes who knows the name of the Unnamed Third Member who was killed by Leos, Gareth and Zeris after he, Kurt and Elmore stole some Howl plans for the Queen of Lurisia, which is unfortunate because not only can he not speak, but he can only write in Celestial, Primordial and Infernal (or any other obscure and inconvenient language).
Kurt stole Leos's ale recipe with Elmore the Con and then fled to the Green Highlands. He was later found and interrogated by Leos, which made for an awkward scene due to the fact that Kurt could not answer any of his questions. Kurt had been indulging in Esoteric Worms and was briefly mind-controlled by the Illithids.
Kurt does not speak. After his brother was killed, he took a vow of silence. When his tongue was cut out, the vow (and Kurt) became mute.
Kurt is the smartest member of the Jade Snakes and is second in command.
