Our March/April Tech Tidbit is Formative!
Formative is a real-time student assessment that lets you view student responses as they happen! It was designed to allow teachers to easily go beyond the realm of multiple choice questions on their formative assessments. You can design questions that allow students to show their understanding with typed answers, drawings, or images imported from a Google Search! This allows for a lot more variety in questions and can assess deeper understanding towards goals.
Want even more good news? Well, you’re in luck because making a Formative assessment can be very easy! Probably my favorite feature is that you can import questions from a Word/PDF document! You can also insert pictures either from your computer, a web search, or using a drawing feature. This means that Formative can go beyond just quick checks and quizzes – it can be a practice assignment and more!
Feedback is flexible, too. You can assign points, leave a typed comment, and decide if students see it immediately (allowing them to retry) or schedule it for later. It’s one of the more versatile assessment tools out there. Definitely worth checking out!
This is a fun way to assess student learning or to see students' thought process. As always, let me know if you have questions!
