Ed Tech Conference Session #5 - Socrative

Thanks to Mercer DesHarnais for helping us learn about Socrative! Here are her notes from the session:

Why Use It?

• Great way to have easy quizzes for students to go through

• Gives you live feedback about understanding

What are the features?

• You can make quizzes for students to answer (multiple choice, true/false, short answer)

• Has an exit ticket set up where it can be done spur of the moment, no planning required

• It has a space race where groups of students are racing for time

• You can show live feedback to the class and go over questions or live feedback for yourself

• You can export how students did into an excel

• SOON TO BE: bank of quizzes to look through

What devices are needed?

• A computer, laptop or the app

• Students do not need to make an account, they just need the room number

How do I use it?

• I use the exit ticket feature because it can be quickly set up and tracked

• This would be a great way to track student growth goals as well!

• I used it similar to clicker questions from college

• You can hide student names and show the class feedback about the percent who got the right answer versus common mistakes and discuss them
