This is your GLAD building leader sending you a GLAD strategy that you may want to try out in your classroom this coming up month. Next month I will send another strategy for you to try. GLAD strategies are not only great for your ELL students, they are good for all students (even your most gifted).
I use T-Charts if I have the following situations in my class:
When I am introducing a new social skill to my class such as peer editing, collaboration, Socratic Seminars, etc.
When I am having behavior/classroom management issues with particular social skills
As a class, we brainstorm these positive behavior expectations. I post the chart in the classroom as a reminder of the class norm during that social skill, so every time we, say peer edit, I point to the chart and go over the expectations. It works really well and I have used it a lot in my classes.
