Please consider participating in this workshop if you:
Are a certified teacher at an ISD High School
Have one or more ELL students in your classes
Are willing to try using new strategies in your classroom
Teachers will learn practical strategies that engage English Language Learners (ELLs) as well as English Speaking Students. Participants will engage in classroom observations, learn current research, differentiate instructional strategies, and have work time to apply their learning. They will learn how to support ELL students in completing challenging tasks and projects using GLAD and ELL strategies (Guided Language Acquisition Design). Teachers will understand their students’ levels of language acquisition and how to modify instruction and assignments so students have access to the content. Participants will also deepen their understanding of the importance of positioning students as competent rather than deficient.
Trainings will be held from 7:40 am – 3:10 pm on:
November 9, 2017
November 16, 2017
December 8, 2017
April 6, 2018
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tricia Cecil. If you are interested in applying for this workshop and can attend all four sessions, please fill out this Google Form by Thursday, October 26th
