Meeting highlights:
We put together some resources for the Black History Month : Feb Heritage Month to get started. (see PowerPoint).
If you have additional resources to share, please email me and I can add them to the next monthly communication. More resources are coming shortly.
Took a 10 acronym self-assessment to check our awareness on DEI related terms.
December Heritage Month at the school was "celebrating Indian Americans at SHS". Students from Indian Club hosted a student panel on experiences of Students of Indian Origin at SHS.

Please note that this was a semi-formal conversation in a small group setting to encourage and engage student volunteers to share personal and classroom experiences, so we as staff reflect on practices to support them at school, given our student population.
If you advise a club that contributes to equity and diversity at SHS, we would love for students to get it touch we me or Mr. Phelan and present their ideas and/or showcase their work at our building meetings. One of our goals at these meetings is making student voices heard that will guide us going forward. We feel encouraged by what we have seen so far!
