That Haiku Journals was fun. I mentioned the word 'transparency' and was 'disappeared'. Which is quite amusing, really. :0) I've re-applied (like a irritant in an osyter?) and will continue to do so, possibly forever. . . . .

Sasa Vazic I left the group too. Anyway, I don't understand its purpose. When I saw that you were removed after being accused (continuation of the hsa...), without any explanation, I had no choice.

John Potts In the I Ching, Sasa, this is often repeated: "Everything serves to further." I've found that Chinese aphorism to be very true. This new group's purpose is to consolidate the 'vanity publishing for cash and fame' game, is my own considered view. There's a long global road ahead, and all will be well. That would be my word on that. . . .

Hansha Teki Sasa, the purpose of the group was only to be a support and sharing forum for those involved in delivering edited haiku journals to the wider reading public and the unique issues that they face e.g. fair use rule, adaptation to emerging web technologies etc. An open group is more than likely to attract interactions that are better held in other groups.

What happens over at the HJ thing - is it a secret society? I was in and then out. State the reasons. . . . (Just curious.)

Hello John,

I just read your message on my wall -

"What happens over at the HJ thing - is it a secret society? I was in and then out. State the reasons. . . . (Just curious.)"

The Haiku Journals group has been set up as a group open only to haiku journal staff (editors and webmasters) to share 'in the back room' matters of interest to these people's roles. It is not intended to be a forum for posting haiku nor debates about the nature of haiku. It is offered as a discussion and support group for those involved in delivering haiku etc. to the reading public. It is not intended to duplicate the purposes adequately served by other groups.

Participation in any discussions is therefore only open to those actively involved in the production of online and/or print journals. The ability to view the group's posts and comments is not presently limited - only participation.

The wall is not available to non-members. Looks like a secret society to me, buddy. As a haiku journalist, this history is being noted. . . . Good luck with your new initiative.

Hansha Teki

I have no objection to your being part of the group as a haiku journalist. I admire your articles on the various expressions of traditional Japanese aesthetics. My intention in creating the group is to focus on the nuts and bolts of being an editor, a publisher or a webmaster of haiku journals - nothing more than that. The only reason the group is closed is to limit threads unrelated to the stated purpose. The group is not intended to be 'empire building'. I have talents in using web technologies and wanted to offer my skills to any who could use guidance in these areas to better serve the readers of the various journals.

I thought that would also be useful for the editors of the various online and/or print journals to share, in a fraternal atmosphere, problems they have faced in fulfilling their role and the ways they have overcome them.

Fair comment. Hansha.

Will ubiquitous and unrestrained advertising be allowed?

The reason I mention this is because it is liken unto a biblical plague all over the social network sites. Less is more. Yet the perpitrators of this gross commercialisation and personal self-agrandisment under the banner of beautiful haku seem blythly (sic) ignorant of this truism. This sort of thing degenerates haiku to the level of a cheap, mass-produced marketing scam. Perhaps this could be a topic for discussion at your group. I'd be glad to take the heat on that.

Thanks for your honesty. I admire your clarity of mind as evidenced by your posts on Facebook. You obviously are one of the haiku good guys. So am I.

Regards

John
