An aside. . . .

We have a theory which may be considered, perhaps, controversial by some (although, possibly, not by others). It goes something like this: if a haiku reader ponders a haiku deeply enough the depth of their contemplation will eventually reach the haiku's original moment - that little eureka event witnessed in and by the psyche of the haiku's scribe. (This would also be conjectured to include an awareness of the writers artifices.) There are, it seems to me, many implications to this somewhat animistic notion.
