rose hips

Poster ('cartoon') effect using Kodak EasyShare, the simple but useful photo-editor that came with my digital Kodak (DX4530). I got this camera for a song, brand new, back when it was near the bleeding edge of things digitally photographic. (I believe this to be forward planning by the weird forces of sychronicity, but at the time it was just a good deal.) Now you can pick one up new for less than a ton (£100). For most purposes this palm-sized, lightweight camera is great. For professional use, though, it probably is a pain - but doable. The pic was taken locally at Maiden Bradley village in Wiltshire, rainy England. The fruit are rose hips (a good source of vitamin C, amongst other things, and which a syrup is concocted out of). As kids we went out picking and got paid by our school. The smell of hessian sacks - soaked to increase their weight. The scratched arms and intense competition between families. Badges were issued to the superstar pickers. Daily updates of winning classes at morning assembly, after hymns. Oh what fun!
