AFFORDABLE SOLAR ENERGY
Di.S.P. – Distributed Solar Power Ltd., is a development stage company poised to capitalize on the fast growing solar energy and distributed generation markets. Using superior technology, licensed from Tel Aviv University, we achieve higher efficiency and provide more usable energy than comparable commercial systems. With our patent pending MCPV systems, we are committed to delivering solar power at prices that will compete with grid power on ў/kW-hr basis.
Di.S.P.'s Approach
Photovoltaics (PV) convert sunlight into electricity using semiconductor materials. Currently, the market is dominated by flat panel (FPPV) systems that utilize simple, low efficiency solar cells. Concentrated PV (CPV) is a technology in which sunlight from a large area is concentrated onto a small number of specially designed, high efficiency, solar cells. In sunny locations, a CPV system can generate 30-40% more electricity than flat panel systems. Di.S.P.'s solar power station is an unobtrusive array of MCPV units that utilize CPV technology, installed at the customer's location (e.g., rooftop). In addition to electricity, the station provides the customers with the added value of high-grade heat, making it a comprehensive Combined Heat and Power (CHP) station. The heat can be generated at high temperatures – suitable for steam generation, cooling, process heat and general heating. No other commercial PV system can generate heat at such elevated temperatures.
Management Team
Di.S.P. was formed in February 2004. It is managed by founder Dr. Daniel Kaftori, with co-founder Professor Abraham Kribus, of Tel Aviv University as C.T.O. and Yaron Bar-Ilan as the VP Business Development and Marketing. They are highly qualified and with many years of solar energy research, product development, entrepreneurial and management experience. Professor Joseph Appelbaum of TAU, a recognized authority in photovoltaic systems, is Di.S.P.'s scientific advisor.Di.S.P. operates within the Yozmot HaEmek Technological Incubator, sponsored by the Government of Israel.
It is supported by a strategic investor – SHAP,
a European energy company that assists in product definition and first installations.
