The Isle of Man - scandal !

Thomas Wilson (1663 - 1755) was the Bishop of Sodor and Man (Isle of Man - British Island in the Irish Sea to the west of Liverpool) between 1697 and his death in 1755.

A rather embarrassing scandal involving his own housekeeper Catherine Crumbleholme [Cro0646] and two of his man servants Philip Cottier and Zachery Gaskill occurred in 1716. Catherine [Cro0646] became pregnant and finally after various acts of public penance, she and Zachery Gaskill eloped and were married in Liverpool in 1717, their daughter Margaret [Cro647] having been born on the Island in 1716.
