Elizabeth Cromleholme (1737 - 1817) [Cro0140]
Baptised : 13th November 1737 at St Michaels on Wyre, daughter of Rev William Cromleholme [Cro0121] and his wife Ann [Cro0122] (third daughter of Alexander Butler of Kirkland).
Nothing has been found regarding her early life but it would appear to have been comfortable being a clergyman's daughter and with the Butler family as grandparents.
As will be seen below, she inherited lands from her father and does appear to have been involved in various seemingly complex indentures and conveyances during her long life. She had lived in Preston and Churchtown but never married. She appears to have been quite shrewd but generous at the same time. Judging by her memorial in St Michaels on wire church she was well liked. She died, aged 87 years, a wealthy lady having an estate value at £7000+ and making an endowment to the local school.
1765 - Elizabeth Cromleholme [Cro0140] (aged 28) was a joint executor of her father's will : he bequeathed his freehold estate in Catterall and Claughton called Sturzacker House (this had been left to his wife by her father)
