Internet searches for the Crombleholme (Cromlum / Cromlom) name in early North America bring up the records below. These may not relate to our families and could just relate to the more common Cromwell name. We have not therefore allocated ID numbers as yet.
Thomas Crumlum and Gyles Crumlum c.1640 who were very early English settlers in Newbury in Norfolk County Massachusetts. The first European settlers arrived in the area in 1630’s and Newbury was established soon afterwards at the mouth of the Merrimac river.

1630 - 1637 : It is assumed that both Gyles and Thomas Cromlom (brothers ??) left England for Massachusetts at some time during this period
1636 - John Cromlom born at Newbury, Mass. (father ??)*
1638 - 24th February : Thomas Cromlom (with others) was fined for non attendance at a Newbury town meeting*
1638 - 6th August : Thomas Cromlom mentioned in Newbury town records. *
c.1640 - By this time, Gyles, John and Thomas Cromlom appear as living in the Newbury area. *

Giles Cromlome recorded as an inhabitant of Newbury and listed amongst those signing a petition to the General Court in support of an inhabitant ...................."our loving friend Lt Robert Pike of Dalsbury has let fall some words" for which the General Court had censured him, certifying that he had been a peaceful man and a useful instrument and praying that he be restored to his former liberty.

Gyles Cromlome recorded as objecting to the Will made by Thomas Cromwell.
Will of Thomas Cromwell brought in to be proved, Gyles Cromwell objecting to it, court ordered Mr John Lowell and Mr Edward Woodman to take an inventory of the estate.
The Court addressed Mr Woodman, saying that the Ipswich Court ordered Mr John Loule and himself to take into custody the goods of Thomas Cromlom of Newbury, deceased, that were in the hands of Samuel Scullard, deceased. Not having done so, they are now ordered to answer next court, and this order to be published next lecture day.

1668 - John Cromlom moved to Woodbridge as one of the first settlers there
1669 - 6th June : Alice Crumlom (nee Wiseman) died in Newbury *
1673 - 25th February : Gyles Crumlom died at Salisbury, Essex County, Mass.*
His will mentions two children : a son, Philip who later settled in nearby Dover (north of Newbury), he was a butcher in Salem and made a freeman in 1665, Mass; a daughter Argentine who in 1662 married Benjamin Cram s/o “good old John Cram" of Hampton
1674 - Giles Crumlum - now deceased. Notes his heirs probably in dispute about land formerly belonging to him lying near Merrimack river in Newbury 1674. Note that Robert Pike (noted in the 1640 above) is now a commissioner. :
Benjamin Cram (his X mark) of Hampton for £34 mortgaged to Richard Dole of Newbury my house and 5 acres of land in Hampton on which the house stands and orchards, bounded by highway, Robert Tuck and Benjamin Sweat; also 5 acres of marsh, bounded by a great creek, Christopher Hussie, Henry green and Nath Wear; conditioned that the heirs etc of Giles Crumlum of Nuburie, deceased, shall not disturb title of grantee to house, orchard and land that he bought of said Cram which was formerly Giles Crumlums, lying near Merrimack River in Newbury, March 9 164-5. Witness Steven Greenleafe and John Wells. Acknowledged March 9 1674-5 before Robert Pike, commissioner.
