This indenture made the twenty fourth day of May in the thirty sixth year of the reign of our sovereign lord Henry VIII by the grace of God king of England France and Ireland defender of the Faith and of the Church of England and also of Ireland in earth the supreme head between Richard Crombythome of Dutton within the county of Lancaster yeoman upon the one part and John Crombocke of Whalley within the said county gentleman upon the other part Witnesseth that the said Richard Crombythome for the sum of £20 12s 8d stirling to him paid at the day of the date of these presents by the hand of the said John Crombocke whereof and whereunto the said Richard Crombythome knowledgeth himself truly contented satisfied and paid thereof clearly acquiteth and dischargeth the said Cromboocke his heirs and executors by these presents hath bargained and sold and by these presents clearly bargaineth and selleth unto the said John Crombocke and his heirs all that his messuage or house and one garden set lying and being in Wiswolde within the county of Lancaster and now of late in the tenure and occupation of John Wood all that his messuage or house and one garden four acres of pasture three acres and half of land with the appurtenances in Wiswolde within the said county of Lancaster and now or late in the tenure and occupation of Robert Lane and also all and singular his messuage cottage land tenement meadows pastures feedings commons turbaries with their appurtenances in Wiswolde aforesaid now or late in several tenures and occupations of Humphrey Dogeson, the late wife of Henry Feldon, George Craven, the late wife of William Ratcliffe, and the late wife of Richard Dewhurst, Elyn Standen, Christopher Smith, Miles Carryer, Henry Lawe the late wife of William Sager, and the late wife of William Gregson, Thomas Dopson, and Thomas Lawe, with all and singular his tenements meadows pastures feedings commons turbaries woods underwoods rents revercions and service and all other his hereditaments whatsoever they be in Wiswolde aforesaid or to any of them belonging or appertaining or with the same demised letten used occupied and now or late in the tenures and occupations aforesaid and also all that his little grove in Wiswolde aforesaid called Wiswolde Shawe and now or late in the tenure and occupation of Eustace Bruscoo and one parcel of land called Strestall land with the appurtenances in Wiswolde aforesaid and now or late in the tenure of William Seller all which meases cottages lands tenements and other the premises lately did belong and appertain unto the late monastery of Whalley which in the county of Lancaster now desolved and late were parcel of the possessions and inheritance of the same and all and singular the premises above bargained and sold the said Richard Crombythome lately had of the gift and grant of our sovereign lord king Henry VIII by his letters patent bearing date at Westminster the twenty day of May in the 36th year of his most noble reign TO HAVE HOLD AND ENJOY the said meases cottages lands tenements and all and singular the premises unto the said John Crombocke his heirs and assignees for ever in as large and ample manner as the said Richard Crombythome hath the same and every part and parcel therefof by the king's letters patent aforesaid ALSO THE SAID Richard Crombythome by these presents doth covenant and grant for him his heirs executors and assignees and every of them that he the said Richard Crombythome the day of the dtae of these presents hath full power and lawful authority clearly to bargain and sell the aforesaid messuages cottages lands tenements and other the premises above bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof unto the said John Crombocke and his heirs as is aforesaid and that the said Richard Crombythome and his heirs shall from time to time by the sapce of two yeras next and immediately ensuing the date of these presents at the reasonable request of the said John Crombocke and his heirs and at the cost and charge in the law of the said JohnCrombocke and his heirs shall do and suffer to be done all such further assurance as shall be devised or advised by the councel learned of the siad John Cromboke for the sue making of all and singular the premises above bargained and sold unto the said John Cromboke and his heirs be it by deed fine feoffment release recovery or otherwise AND ALSO THE SAID Richard CRombythome doth further covenant and grant for him his heirs and assignees to and with the said John Cromboke his heirs and assignees and every of them by these presents that he the said Richard Crombythome his heirs and assignees shall acquit discharge and save harmless the said Joh Cromboke his heirs and assignees and every of them of all manner of former bargains and sales of the premises above bargained and sold and every part and parcelthereof had made done or suffered to be done by the siad Richard to any person or persons before the dtae of these presents AND ALSO THE SAID Richard Crombythome his heirs and assignees shall from time to time hereafter acquit discharge and save harmless the said Jihn Cromboke and his heirs of ll and singular the premises above bargainded and sold of all manner of titles of dower and jointures statutes of the staple statute marchant rents chargs recognisance execucions and all other charges and encumbrances whatsover they be had made done of suffered to be done by the said Richard Crombythome his heirs or assignees or nay of them ALSO THE SAID Richard Crombythome doth further by these presents give and grant unto the said John Cromboke his executors and assignees all manner of issues rents revenues and profits coming arising and growing of in or upon all and singular the premises above bargained and sold from the Feast of St Michael the Archangel last past unto the day of the date of these presents and for further assurance of all and singular the covenants grants articles and agreements on the part and upon the behalf of the said Richard Crombythome his heirs and assinees well and truly to be observed performed and kept the said Richard Crombythome by these presents doth bind him his heirs and assignees unto the said John Cromboke and his heirs in the sum of two hundred pounds stirling . IN WITNESS whereof the said parties to these present indentures interchangeably have put their seals the day and year first written these being witnesses :
