In today's Round 7 at the Chess Olympiad in Siberia, Heather led the Scottish Women's team to a 3.5-0.5 win against the Dominican Republic. Her win, with White against Roja Ariella Adames, brings her score up to 3.5 out of 7. She has played three titled players, including the GM Thanh Trang Hoang (representing Germany), and very nearly beat IM Yelena Dembo of Greece in Round 3, though only drawing with her in the end. With four rounds remaining, the team (seeded 68th) stands in 48th position out of 113 teams with four wins and three losses. For links to further reports, see the item 'Cowley Globetrotters' below.
Final update (Sunday 3 October): The Chess Olympiad finishes today. Heather won her final Board One game for Scotland against Jovana Vojinovic, a Woman Grandmaster from Montenegro rated almost 300 points above her, to finish with a personal total of 4.5 points out of 10. The Scottish women have finished mid-table with five wins, five losses, and one drawn match (in the final round), though, as I write, the final standings have not yet been posted on the official website (http://www.euro2010.ge/index.html).
