Cowley Handicap Tournament
1. This Tournament is open to all members of Cowley Chess Club (with ECF grade or equivalent) and the games should be played on Club evenings whenever possible.
2. The Tournament will consist initially of four mini leagues which will extend for 6 months from November to May. The winners of each league will progress to the semi-finals and final to be played in May/June.
3. Players will be seeded in grade order and then drawn at random to ensure a range of strengths in each league.
4. Each match will consist of a 1 hour game with a time handicap based on the table. Players draw for choice of colour. A draw in the league stages counts as a half point to each player.
5. Players are asked to make every effort to play all their league games. In the event of a league not being completed by the end of May the Tournament Organiser will determine which player goes through.
6. In the event of a tie at the completion of the league stage a deciding match (or matches) will be played. If no winner emerges the lowest graded player will go through.
7. In the event of a draw in the knockout stages a second game will be played with colours reversed. If drawn again, the lower graded player wins.
8. Rapid play rules apply. In the event of a dispute seek advice from a senior player. If necessary refer to the Tournament Organiser for a decision.
9. In the event of a toilet break both clocks shall be stopped!
