Two of our members are currently playing for their countries abroad.

Chantelle Foster is England's representative in the European Girls' Under-14 Championship taking place in Batumi, Georgia. Seeded 29th of the 44 entrants, after seven rounds she has scored 3 out of 7. The highlight so far was her win in Round 3 with White against Megi Chachia of Georgia, which she finished off with a nice queen sacrifice: 1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. Nc3 d6 4. Be3 Nf6 5. f3 O-O 6. Qd2 c6 7. g4 Qa5 8. O-O-O Nbd7 9. h4 b5 10. Kb1 b4 11. Nce2 Nb6 12. Nc1 Na4 13. Nb3 Qb6 14. h5 gxh5 15. gxh5 Rd8 16. h6 Bh8 17. Nh3 Kf8 18. Ng5 Qb8 19. Rg1 e6 20. Qg2 Ke7 21. Bc4 Nb6 22. Na5 Bd7 23. The final round is tomorrow. Latest update: Chantelle won again today, and has climbed up to 50% with just one round left. In tomorrow's last round she faces Soyunlu Narmin Asat of Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Heather Lang is playing on top board for the Scottish Women's team at the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk in Siberia. Brrrr! After six rounds Heather has scored 2.5 out of 6. (Five rounds remain, with the event finishing next Sunday.
