In the Southern Gigafinal of the Delancey UK Schools' Chess Challenge held in Reading on the weekend of the 14-15 July, juniors belonging to or connected with Cowley Chess Club were hugely successful.
James Foster, seeded fifth, won the Boys' U18 event outright by a clear point with 5.5/6, earning the title Ultimo, while Chantelle Foster became the Girls' U15 Ultima by being the highest placed girl with 4.5/6 in a mixed section.
Ruby Marsden became the Girls' U18 Ultima by scoring 3.5/6 in her section.
The Wang sisters triumphed even more decisively in their age groups. Maria won her mixed U16 section outright with 6/6 to become the Girls' U16 Ultima. Anna also scored 100% to win the Girls' U13 event and the Ultima title, and young Eva also scored 6/6 to become the Ultima in the Girls' U8 event.
