Empathic Bond (Mind ••• + Space ••)
This spell creates an empathic bond between two souls.
Practice: Weaving
Action: Extended
Duration: Prolonged
Aspect: Covert
Cost: 1 mana
The mage creates an empathic link with the target. Both can feel the emotions of the other by concentrating on them. (Magical effects that damage or manipulate the target through an emotional attack don't damage or manipulate the mage, and vice versa) There is no limit to the distance of this link. (it follows the normal Space sympathetic rules) The mage must have an Intimate connection to the target. The target must also be physically present for the completion of the ritual casting. The target must enter into the bond willingly, they can not be coerced magically. The mage or target can only have one of these bonds active at a time.
With Mind 4 the spell can be cast using Advanced Prolongation factors but because living targets change over time this spell can not be cast using these factors on the targets themselves. Instead the mage can dedicate items that have symbolic values to both the mage and the target to become the focus of the spell. The items must be a part of the ritual casting. The dedicated items must remain in the mage's and target's possession for the duration of the spell. If either item is destroyed or leaves the target's possession for more then 24 hrs the bond is broken. Even though the items are the focus of the spell it still counts towards spell tolerance.
Rhino Whisperer (Mind •••)
Mages who regularly work around those who have temper problems sometimes don't have the time to get out of the way and calming down the charging rhino is a must. The willworker attempts to influence the rhino with thoughts of puppy dogs and buttercups.
Practice: Ruling
Action: Instant and contested; target rolls Composure reflexively if not under their own control.
Duration: Transitory (one turn)
Aspect: Covert
Cost: 1 Mana (optional)
The number of successes are applied as bonus dice to the target's next roll to resist any frenzies, rages or fear effects. With the invest of 1 Mana the target can make an immediate re-roll against the effect including the new bonus.
Universal Spam - (Mind •••)
The mage strengthens the target's connection to the Universal Consciousness. While this sounds like a good thing, it doesn't start out very well. It becomes an onslaught of sensory information that the unprepared mind can't handle.
The sensory overload causes brain synapses to misfire and neuro peptides to go wild causing muscles to damage themselves. Some Mastigos believe that if one can survive the initial onslaught their connection to the Universal Consciousness will be strengthened permanently and the unawakened mind will be open to new possibilities. Most mages view this as a form of torture, but to those who walk the path of scourging this is just another test of the soul. As the old Warlock saying goes, One can not truly experience pleasure without first experiencing pain.
Practice: Fraying
Action: Instant; subtract target's Resolve
Duration: Transitory (1 turn per success)
Aspect: Vulgar
Cost: 1 Mana (optional)
The target takes 1 point of bashing damage for each dot of Mind the mage has per turn as long as the spell lasts. Additional successes are applied to the duration, one turn per success.
With Mind 4 the damage is lethal. With Mind 5 one Mana can be spent to make the damage Aggravated.
