2.More Temples

(11/10/10)

The days after we battled in the Ocean Temple and Lake Temples were productive. I have not been disappointed with the chances for combat which these new companions promise. It seems a new adventure to be had all the time. Whatever is going on the scope seems to be very big indeed. Just in these past two weeks I feel my knowledge increasing. The battles I have fought in adding credence to demands that the spirits teach me more.

Red the Shaman was going north to investigate some village overrun by zombies. I decided that now would be a good time to locate a spirit to teach me the gift of Attunement so I went with him. He said that he would help me find one. He asked his woman to go, but she didn't want to get caught up in 'werewolf stuff'. It is most interesting how this Annie can handle the lunacy where another humans runs in fear. Another person of interest added to the mix. It was too bad that she didn't want to come along. A healer is always welcome, but it left more time for Red to explain more of the history of this group. The tales he told were most disturbing. I feel that I have arrived where I need to be. If my dreams tell me to go somewhere else, I will not listen. I wish to remain here.

While we were there The Korthak arrived back at the Warehouse. I am told it killed a spirit of great power. How is it possible to kill such a being? Sure, it is possible to dispatch minor spirits and minions, but a being that was worshipped a as god of the ancient humans? So much power destroyed? Either this Korthak is a liar or a creature of intense skill. I will either hate this creature or revere him. We shall see. Whatever it is, it is now the guardian of this warehouse. It says it has never known freedom. That is a tragedy, but what happened to its master? I fear that I shall never cease learning more of this story. How much more is to learn? What do they hide from me? Do I want to know?

The mages found another of their Atlantean temples. Do they speak of the actual Atlantis? When I was still human I thought many things were myths, but I have learned the truth in so many things. The truth of which destroyed my parents' love for one another. But why dwell on what can not be changed. So Atlantis was real. I wonder what myths and histories thought as false are real too. Were the stories which my mother told me rooted somewhere in fact? Was the hero, Hector - the greatest warrior of mythic Troy, also real as well? Perhaps some of blood may even run in my veins. Of that, I would say I would like that to be true.

So once again we walk a pathway across the world. They say we ended up in Russia. Wherever we were we were in the middle of pristine and beautiful forest. I felt like I was back home. We were clearly in Uratha territory. The Shaman and I noticed that quickly after we arrived. There were signs of battle. This was another reminder of home. My tribe having waged battle after battle fending off attacks from the Pure the signs were quite commonplace to me. The pack whose territory we intruded upon noticed our presence quite clearly. We arrived at a cave and the pack arrived there rather quickly. They were quite used to defending this little piece of rock. There was no locus here so the reason why eluded my comprehension. I did feel the draw, but what would draw Uratha for hundreds of miles?

When the mages mentioned the number of wolves out there I was quite ready to face a battle which would quite reasonably destroy our little party. Negotiating with them would be quite impossible. They already killed for this little piece of rock. What would stop them from killing us too? I know that were I the Alpha of that pack I would not have hesitated in doing so. They asked me if I would speak with this pack. We were in violation and they were within their rights. I am no negotiator and would more than likely start a fight than end one so I did not offer my services in that regard. I was very surprised when they offered to talk at all. It must have been more magic. They should have destroyed us.

So they allowed us to investigate. At the bottom of the cave we found a drab cube - how boring! The pack was correct in their estimation of the treasure of this cave. Cygin the Mage did his magic trick and allowed us to enter. The design of this temple was similar to the others. On one side we found an army of angry spirits. Cygin the Mage created some manner of barrier which protected us from them. It was a rather handy gift to have.

The room on the other side held a large and powerful spirit. This battle was going to be quite difficult with it having no present manifestation. However, one of group used a gift which allowed us to see the spirit. That was more like it. I hate when spirits cheat and will not give an honest battle. Well, this coward spirit was a cheater to the core and took over the minds of both the Shaman and the Healer. The two began to do battle with each other but strong words from Cygin the Mage stopped their combat.

I felt the coward try to touch my mind, but I am not so susceptible. I wished only one thing and that was to send this decrepit rogue back to Hell. It was clever in its movements, but I was able to grasp the pitiful thing. Once I held it and sank my teeth into its tenuous being I knew the fight was over. Danno the Warrior took advantage of the opening I gave him and finished the job. Its wasted existence was terminated.

On the other end of the temple lay a poisonous fog. It proved to be another barrier which would require much thought to cross. (tbc)
