Aftermath of the Fall

We were again snapped out of our trance by Kraven. He said he had to leave and turned to Ohm and told him the sword would soon seek a new owner and then he vanished. It took a bit for the meaning of his words to set in. Kraven was most likely going to join Jericho and this would be the last we see of either of them. This got us back into motion and we started figuring out what was next. First we needed a base of operations. The warehouse would not be safe now that Donovan controlled the city. Red said we could use the village of the damned. He had the foresight to clean the place up months ago. That is where we already sent everybody when we first evacuated the city. I opened a portal and we went through.

I checked the video cameras back in the warehouse to see if anybody had yet taken it over, it looked empty. I told the others I was going to go back to the warehouse and destroy the portal to the palace and clear some things out. When I got to the warehouse the Korthak was still there and he said he had seen a cloaked figure hovering about. My first thought was Jericho but that was wishful thinking. I immediately went downstairs and unraveled the portal. If they were going to take the warehouse they were going to have to do it the hard way and go through the Korthak. I then went up to the roof and started looking for this cloaked figure. I saw something move far off and yelled out for them to show themselves. I saw the figure make their way towards me and soon the streetlights showed who it was. It was a winged demon and unless she had a twin sister, it was a spitting image of Malcothet. I quickly scanned her aura and it did indeed match that of Malcothet. I just kinda stared at her and said "How?" Malcothet said she wasn't sure. The last thing she remembers is doing her thing in Afghanistan and then darkness. But then that darkness was destroyed by light and she saw the Lady Abigail who said this would be the last thing of good she did on this earth. And then boom, Malcothet is crawling out of the grave we buried her in a few days ago. I still just stared kinda stunned at such a story. But I could see in her body language and in her eyes that she wasn't trying to trick me. She herself was still stunned for the ordeal. As I looked her over I saw clutched in her right hand a gun. Upon further inspection I realized it was the enchanted colt that Ohm had given her for Christmas. She was clutching it as thought it were the most valued thing in all of creation. It was her link to humanity and I knew she was for real. I told her I wasn't entirely sure what was going on and that she should lay low until we know. Just as I said that the ground rumbled and shook. Tremors were passing through the city now. I had no idea what Donovan was doing. As I stood there trying to think what items I should take I just couldn't do it, I had to figure out how to keep this warehouse so I returned to the others to tell them what had just transpired.

Everyone was shocked about Malcothet. Ohm did not reveal any emotions but I could only imagine. I will talk with him later. I tell the others I think I can hide the warehouse but they all think it's too dangerous to use as a base, I know they are right but I still don't want to give up my home so easy. We figure with the portal gone and the Korthak still guarding the premises that the warehouse will be safe for a while and we should try to find Lylith. I open a scrying window and find Lylith crouched over a pile of ashes in the shape of an angel. I could feel the sadness through the window and had to look away before I started doing it. I portaled us to Lylith's location. We all said nothing. Danno walked over and scooped up some of the ash. She mentioned how this was all she ever known and loved and that now she was alone. We told her she wasn't alone, we would always be here for her, she was our friend since the start. The ground shook even more violently and Lylith said she is pretty sure that Donovan is trying to rip the city out of the ground. It was not safe here and we asked her to come with us. She agreed. She knew that this was her mission now, to protect the four.

I then mentioned how I wanted to hide the warehouse and I could use her presence to bolster my magic. She suggested we just move it. Never thought about that. I portaled us to the warehouse and stood outside trying to comprehend how I could move such a large object. I told them that alas I could never teleport with something so large. Then Lylith asked if I could create a portal big enough. I replied that I probably could, but how would we get it through. Lylith bulked up and walked over to a corner and lifted it a good foot without even a grunt. She said if she put her back into it she thinks she could do it. I wanted to laugh, this was just a silly idea. Lifting a warehouse and carrying it trough a portal was impossible, the sheer physics of it. Then I remembered half the shit I did was impossible. Lylith wasn't your ordinary nine foot tall supermodel and I was fracking Master of Space. The universe will bend to my will. We scryed out a suitable location in the village of the damned for the warehouse and did some quick excavating so the basement would fit. I did some quick math and opened the largest portal I had ever attempted. Lylith went into her big scary form and Hector did the same. And with ease they lifted the warehouse and walked it through a portal. I just stood in awe. I love being a mage. The Korthak appeared then also amazed by what just happened. I told him that Chicago was no longer safe and our offer still stood if he wanted to protect the warehouse in its new locale he could. The Korthak knew this was a bad place to be right now even for him and he walked through the portal after the warehouse. I said goodbye to our old neighborhood and to the city we called home and went through the portal closing it behind me.

We all settled into our new home quietly. Lylith went off into the woods and it sounded like she was building something. We started getting reports of various battles taking place amongst our allies. Vampire assassins in Madrid, stealthy Pure assassins in New York, the hedge was bleeding creatures in England. This was either a byproduct of Donovan's ritual or part of a greater plan to keep us and others occupied. Either way we decided we needed to do something about it. We were going to need all the allies we can muster to take on Donovan. The Korthak seemed to sense the hedge creatures and asked if he could go take care of them and we agreed. I warn Dr Anderson of what is coming and to just stay out of its way.

Through the rest of the night we could hear Lylith building something out in the woods. Nobody wanted to get in her way right now, she was still a foul mood, a mood we all understood. Come dawn we feel an urging to go see what she was up to. Lylith had built a forge and a shrine to t he Lady Abigail. She had started rebuilding her sword and she was in battle mode. She was going to help us save the world and she was going to go into the underworld itself to get the Lady Abigail back. I suggested we change the name of our new found home to Ahava. It was an ancient Hebrew word that meant "to give" I felt it summed up the Lady Abigail and the idea of this town would support her legacy. With that it was time to get some sleep. We were going into t he last temple as soon as the sun fell. We needed some answers. We needed some hope.
