TVheadend Components

This project is no longer under active maintenance or support. I replaced TVheadend and Kodi with Fire TV Recast and Fire TV.

The primary reason for moving away from TVheadend was my server kept failing. I couldn't figure out why. I was spending too much time reinstalling ubuntu and TVheadend. My server was ~15 years old. The drive was fine, maybe some components were failing.

  • TVheadend Client - Recommended Option:

    • • Fire TV Cube with Echo built-in

      • Pick either:

        • • Kodi running on Fire TV (Free) Kodi runs better than Dream Player

          • Dream Player for TVheadend running on Fire TV ($6.99)

  • TVheadend Client - My Original Choice - not recommended:

    • • Roku Ultra for premium content (HBO, DirectTV Now or Sling, Amazon Prime, and NetFlix)

      • Kodi Media Player

      • Logitech Harmony 650 Remote

      • Raspberry Pi cron

      • Roku disable SSID
